Privacy and Confidentiality Policy

Confidentiality protocols.

All peer volunteers sign a confidentiality agreement and have been trained for aviation peer support to respect, understand and protect your confidentiality.

All parties recognise that for PAN NZ to work, it needs to be independent of the company, the unions and the Regulator. While PAN NZ is independent, it is operationally accountable to the PAN NZ Steering Group. They meet biannually to discuss overall usage patterns - never individual cases. The details of individual users are strictly confidential and are protected in the same way medical records would be protected.

If you tell us anything that gives us demonstrable concern about your immediate safety or anyone elses, just as in other healthcare settings, we are ethically and legally obliged to see that you fulfil your obligations as a licence holder.

In this rare event, your peer will follow an established protocol of encouraging you to seek professional health assistance. They may then contact their clinical supervisor and together decide on the most appropriate course of action.

In all such cases these steps would be taken with the your full knowledge.
